On April 26, 2014, Transylvania dedicated its new $10 million Athletics Complex.
Home to the university's field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and track and field teams, the Transylvania Athletics Complex features an 860-seat grandstand, an eight-lane track, and an artificial turf field that has been in use since October 2013. The 18,000-square-foot field house provides locker and conference rooms, coaches' offices, a sports medicine facility, concessions, a ticket booth, and public restrooms.
The Athletics Complex, which is the first major construction project in the Transylvania 2020 strategic plan, has already paid off from a recruiting standpoint, landing two new women's soccer commitments for 2014. "I think recruiting will be enhanced by showcasing the new facility, which solidifies what we have to offer here at Transylvania University," head coach Michael Fulton said.
We are most grateful to the donors who have made it possible to recognize some of Transylvania's most revered figures and generous supporters at the Athletics Complex:
Board of Regents Training Room
Press Box in honor of Harry Rankin
Scoreboard in honor of Richard J. Corman
Lobby in honor of R. Owen Williams
Coach's office in honor of Charlie Spiegel
Coach's office supported by Billy Van Pelt
Concession area supported by Mindy Barfield
A number of opportunities are still available to associate your name permanently with the beautiful new facility. For example, for $1,000, you can place your name or honor someone else on a nameplate attached to one of the premier seats in the new stadium. For details, click here.
