The Admissions Process F.A.Q.

How do I schedule a campus visit?

The campus visit is the single most important thing you will do in your college search. Every individual visit to Transylvania includes a campus tour and a meeting with an admissions counselor. We recommend that you visit during the academic year, so you have the option of sitting in on a class, meeting with faculty, or talking with a coach. Seniors can stay also stay overnight. This is great way to get a feel for the complete Transylvania student experience. We also offer several Saturday visit options and three on-campus open house programs.

What factors does Transylvania consider when evaluating an application for admissions?

The Office of Admissions gives careful consideration to several factors when reviewing applications. Of most importance is the rigor of a students’ academic curriculum, his/her performance in academic core courses, and his/her performance on the ACT and/or SAT. Transylvania recommends students take a challenging college preparatory curriculum. Ideally, students should take at least four units of English, four units of math, four units of science, at least two units of social science, and at least two units of foreign language during high school. Extracurricular involvement, volunteer experience, letters of recommendation, and the essay also play a very important role in the admission process.
