Transylvania's small, tightly knit campus provides many opportunities for students living off campus to be part of the Transylvania community. Commuter students are encouraged to get involved in activities outside of the classroom.
As a commuter student, you can join various student organizations and groups and attend all university events open to students. Make Transylvania your home away from home, and find out more about campus involvement opportunities.

Commuter students may obtain a parking permit to park in any general parking lot on campus. Parking permits may be obtained at any time during the school year. For more information contact the Department of Public Safety at (859) 233-8118.
Transylvania's dining service provides three meals a day in Forrer Dining Center for resident and commuter students, faculty and staff, and campus visitors. Breakfast and lunch are also served in the Rafskeller Grill. In addition, students may put money on their Crimson Card that may be used in Forrer Dining Center, the Rafskeller, Jazzman's café, and the 1780 Café, a late-night hangout. Computers for commuter student use are available 24 hours a day in the lower level of Forrer Hall, in the basement of Clay Hall, and in Poole and Hazelrigg Halls.
Commuters can use laundry facilities in Forrer and Clay/Davis residence halls from 10 a.m.-2 a.m. daily. Machines cost $1 to wash or dry and accept coins and Crimson Cards.

Commuter students wanting to receive campus mailings may obtain a commuter mailbox in the William T. Young Campus Center. Space is limited, so students are encouraged to sign up for a box within the first week of classes in the fall; however, you may request a box at any time during the school year.
All mail being sent to a commuter student should be marked COMMUTER to eliminate delays in delivery. Oversized mail will be placed behind the Campus Center front desk, and a notification will be placed in your mailbox for pickup. Mailboxes should be checked and emptied once a week.
